Red Sox Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) (Sat, 31 Jul 2010 02:40:27 PDT)

According to several baseball sources—and to the shock of no one—Mike Lowell's name is being peddled about with the non-waiver trade deadline set for Saturday afternoon.

With that in mind, the Red Sox are holding off on activating the red-hot Lowell until after all potential trade avenues have been exhausted headed into the deadline. Lowell hit .500 with four home runs and 10 RBI in five rehab games for Class AAA Pawtucket (R.I.) coming off the disabled list with hip stiffness, and clearly holds the kind of right-handed pop that could help somebody else.

"Mikey is working out with us (Friday night). Theo (Epstein) sat down with his agents, I think, and told them to hang on for a day or so," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona.

Red Sox sweep Angels on Scutaro's 8th-inning slam (AP) (Wed, 28 Jul 2010 18:17:30 PDT)

When Marco Scutaro saw a changeup coming from one of the hardest-throwing relievers in baseball, Boston's scrappy shortstop knew exactly what to do with that stroke of good luck. His grand slam sent the Red Sox home from the West Coast with ample reason to believe they're still in the postseason chase.

When the line drive hit Dan Haren's right forearm with a sickening smack, a collective shudder pulsed through Angel Stadium.
